Alarm clock simply wakes you up gradually, whichever mode you prefer. James Jordan has identified the problems associated with waking up too abruptly and his device works around the concept of sleep inertia. The snooze button has an LED ring around it, making it easier to identify the button in dim early morning light. The device is a futuristic beauty consisting of a detachable touchscreen which can be connected to a base dock with a snooze button in the front and a USB port and recharge point at the back. In the dawn simulator mode, to compensate for sleep inertia, 10 minutes before the alarm is set to go off, the screen of the device starts to light up gradually, like sunbeams coming in from the window.
This progressive build up of light stimulates your retina and prepares your unconscious mind which in turn slowly wakes up your conscious mind. You can choose the dawn simulator, vibration mode or even link up the device to play your favorite radio station or song. In the vibration mode, you have to place the device under your pillow before you sleep off and when the alarm is set to go off, it starts to vibrate, picking up pace steadily till you wake up finally. The clock packs in a range of multimedia features which let you play your favorite images on selected soundtracks or even links up to catch your favorite radio show, making sure you don’t miss any of the action.
