Alarm clock simply wakes you up gradually, whichever mode you prefer. James Jordan has identified the problems associated with waking up too abruptly and his device works around the concept of sleep inertia. The snooze button has an LED ring around it, making it easier to identify the button in dim early morning light. The device is a futuristic beauty consisting of a detachable touchscreen which can be connected to a base dock with a snooze button in the front and a USB port and recharge point at the back. In the dawn simulator mode, to compensate for sleep inertia, 10 minutes before the alarm is set to go off, the screen of the device starts to light up gradually, like sunbeams coming in from the window.
